@johnnyryan
Data privacy has real world implications, as soon fascists are in power and "I've got nothing to hide" is not relevant anymore?
😱 /s
It breaks my heart that it has to come to this, for some people to realize that privacy is more than a stupid game some nerds like to play.

Our latest investigation has shaken up Brussels by revealing that commercial datasets containing 278 million locations can be used to spy on the EU and NATO. The European Commission has expressed its concern, Members of Parliament are calling for action. One thing is clear: ad tracking and data brokers threaten Europe's security.
@johnnyryan Data is a hot commodity, and those with the deepest pockets can do all kinds of creative things with the power of AI. And now, that power is being extended to everyone to "democratize" the opportunities to make money off surveillance. Build your own agent on top of XYZ platform and feed the machine!
Who doesn't want to be stalked by an opportunist looking to hawk their wares, or ideology?
@johnnyryan I was just re-reading the report you authored with @wchr
It was a matter of time ICE using the data.

And this is what I have been warning about for decades... (and being treated as a paranoid loon for it).
I have been a privacy nut since my teens (nearly 50 years). The general laxity in personal privacy was always based on trust of government and corporations - misplaced, as demonstrated by Zimbabwe under Mugabe, and now this.
The trouble is, that genie cannot be put back in the bottle. Hopefully future generations will be a little more circumspect.
