And now, that power is being extended to everyone to "democratize" the opportunities to make money off surveillance. Build your own agent on top of XYZ platform and feed the machine!

And this is what I have been warning about for decades... (and being treated as a paranoid loon for it).
I have been a privacy nut since my teens (nearly 50 years). The general laxity in personal privacy was always based on trust of government and corporations - misplaced, as demonstrated by Zimbabwe under Mugabe, and now this.
The trouble is, that genie cannot be put back in the bottle. Hopefully future generations will be a little more circumspect.
