The way ICE and border patrol are acting isn't really new, it's just on a bigger scale now.

Way back in like 2003, they stopped me and my friends on our way through Texas. We were just kids on a road trip, but they questioned my Chinese American friend about his citizenship, interrogated us about being drug smugglers, got us all out of my car, and threw all of our stuff all over the pavement.

One of the agents joked about shooting my friend because he had a pocketknife clipped to his belt.

The arrogance and contempt they are showing for people now is how they've been for a long time.

That's not a culture that can be reformed. It's an organization that's thoroughly rotted from top to bottom

@MLE_online around 98/99 i spent a lot of time with a couple of friends in TJ. Usually walking back across the border very late. Me and another white friend never got a second look. Our Vietnamese friend, a US citizen born in San Diego, got hassled every damn time.
She was very pretty. They didnt give two shits about immigration, they just wanted to harrass a pretty brown skinned girl.

BP were always pigs.

@MLE_online ACAB is evergreen.

@esnyder @MLE_online

ACAB always, ACAB everywhere, ACAB everywhen.

No exceptions. No excuses. They're always scum.

Absolutely agreed. Coming from OR, I was shocked by the blatant racial profiling I saw crossing through the border check when I moved to NM (which I happened to do a lot). I'm not sure how often they even made me come to a complete stop but I saw plenty of other cars stopped with all their things scattered around and there was a definite theme based on brownness. People outside the area just had no idea.
And even before they were ICE people knew to check for children left behind after an immigration raid. They've been this way for a long time.
@MLE_online when we went through that checkpoint near niland they pretty much did this and waved us through
@MLE_online I got stopped around that time as well in similar fashion, miles away from the border. I didn’t have my passeport with me (I’m French & was there on a J1 visa). We hadn’t planned on going abroad at all and I hadn’t thought I’d need it, with my privileged AF blinders on.
I really felt lucky to be pasty white then as they called the embassy (or whatever organization it is they called) to check on my status… they did stay courteous then, though, but it wasn’t a pleasant experience.

@MLE_online

In their proctored application they ask if you would be willing to just straight up shoot somebody like they were in a warzone. Their whole test is full of questions to make sure they only get the choicest pieces of shit

@MLE_online

The word acting immediately caught me opposing that notion.
Those animals are not acting.
Humans act.
