➡️ France announced today it’s phasing out Teams, Zoom, etc. to be replaced with a French/European solution called Visio.

The data is hosted on @outscale

Transcripts and subtitles are also handled by French providers.

@woody It's rather a shame that it's not suitable for webinars, just smaller meetings.
@HI_Greens

Have you been running it? How does it compare with Jitsi?
@woody We haven't tried it out yet, we just found out about the French gov't's plans today.
One of us tried out a conference platform called BlueJeans, which came out at the same time as Zoom and had vastly better sound, but it did not survive as far as she knows.
@HI_Greens

Yeah, Bluejeans was bought by Verizon and shut down. We've used Jitsi for the last ten years, and generally been happy with it, but it doesn't stretch to more than about 30 users very gracefully.
