@binford2k yes, and how did Leni Riefenstahl get off scott free?

@andyjennings @binford2k
she played the "i'm just a girl, i don't know anything" card and it worked.

her not being a member of the nazi party (therefore by definition not being a nazi; unlike streicher) did help, too.

@binford2k That makes me optimistic about the gang at Fox News!
@DeanFarrell @binford2k Do you believe the americans will enact the same justice on themselves? No double standards? None at all?
@useravoiding @binford2k Time will tell.
@DeanFarrell @useravoiding @binford2k so will the number and severity of the atrocities. Americans can be brutal when provoked enough.
@skribe @DeanFarrell @useravoiding @binford2k (Correction: "People with psychiatric disorders can be brutal." That's not exclusive to Americans. We should stop admiring, cheering on and showering with money and power people which lack the ability of empathy, compassion and emotional connection to others.)
@useravoiding The truely evil Americans are outnumbered by the sane caring ones who were asleep at the wheel. We’re awake now… @DeanFarrell @binford2k
If they did, the logistics of executing half the country would be complicated, to say the least

@binford2k

Food for thought… thanks for sharing. 🙏🏻 So often we hear about people getting away with evil deeds without consequences…

@binford2k

Because that is where it starts…

@binford2k his neck didn't break in the hanging and he strangled for 20 minutes.
It's a barbaric way to end a life, as most are.
Can barbarism be used to model a better state/community? I'm not convinced, but I'm glad he paid a price.

@noodlemaz @binford2k There are reports the Nuremburg hangings were intentionally "bungled" to maximize the punishment of those Nazi murderers. Every one of them hit the trap door on the way down.

The only thing wrong with the gallows at Nuremburg was under use.

@LukefromDC @binford2k be nice if we didn't have to get to that stage this time around, wouldn't it?
I'm all for punching Nazis, but have been fully anti-death penalty a long time. If you've participated in millions of deaths... Gets to a point where yeah, fair enough, better than letting them escape to the Americas to commit more atrocities.

@noodlemaz @binford2k One way is to simply declare them "outlaw" in the old sense of the word: outside the protection of any and all law.

The rest will take care of itself.

The reason for opposing the death penalty under normal circumstances is that courts cannot be trusted to determine guilt from innocence and cannot be trusted with such power.

At Nuremburg, the tribunal was disbanded when their work was done, preventing them from starting in on anyone else like normal courts might do. There was also no question whatsoever of guilt or innocence.

@binford2k if @axelspringer knew about how the Nuremberg trials might go after he helped AFD into power and they lost a war.
@MBEverding @binford2k @axelspringer I would very much like to — at least — skip the "war" part. Could we, maybe directly jump to "lost" without all the "warring" before? I especially loathe the "hero speeches" on both sides, but would accept gladly get by without the killing, raping and maiming.

@inj4n @binford2k @axelspringer have you watched in December ZDF "die Anstalt"? AFD strategy of normalizing right wing extremism is the "culture war". Much of the normalization narratives presented are very present in the narrative of Bild (Axel Springer) and is an AFD Steigbügel.

Once the Brandmauer moves we can pack up since the Reichstag will be on fire.

@binford2k @robcinos One wonders if the same consequences will be applied to Podcasters in whatever future becomes of the fracture of our State’s Union.
@binford2k I get the point But, I mean, it was more than that... he was thefounder/publisher of the main Nazi propaganda newspaper Der Stürmer and a member of the Reichstag that supported and funded all of this. It's not quite as tenuous a connection as this image states.
