My god..

#AI and with that, I mean #LLM's are doing SO MUCH damage

#Laracast is another one who's quitting because of it

I really freaking HATE this

@stux @[email protected] wow that sucks, laracasts is a great resource for learning laravel.
@dansup @[email protected] Indeed  He really tried though but still, oof

I am not ready to give up yet, I will keep resisting and fighting the AI urge

What's another goal right

@stux If we give up, we don't just lose to AI, we lose the _planet_; those greedy bastages will take all the dino-fuelled power and all the already-scarce drinking water they can get to power their endless quest for getting another yacht and making us pay for it... and into the bargain rot our brains to the point where no one will remember how to even attempt to fix things. They're not just roasting the goose that laid the golden egg, they're incinerating the remains so that not even the DNA is left upon which to rebuild...

I will not be bitter.
I will not be bitter.
I will not be bitter.... someday, but today is not that day.

@stux This is really sad to see indeed. Just another "innovation" big tech likes to push that this is a good thing
@stux I’m sad. I really love their work and the Laravel platform
@64bithero @stux He’s not done done. Watch the video if you haven’t.
@outofcontrol @stux I watched it. I didn’t like what I heard still. And it sucks they had lay offs.
@64bithero @stux Agree 100% about the layoffs. A seismic shift is upon us.
@stux been making an effort to avoid this toxic tautology: "it is what it is"

@stux Hopefully in a year or so, the #AI bubble will burst, and then there will be a rush of re-tooled or new podcasts / presenters taking up the mantle.

At least, that's the hopeful thinking that I am holding on to for dear life.

@stux wait I don’t think he’s quitting. He’s done fighting AI 🤔
@ngocphamm @stux yeah, what I took from the video is that he is just drinking the Kool-Aid
@stux There’s a way of responding to this where I’m from: There We Are Then. It’s an acronym for the perp.

I feel like people who are using LLMs for their work are not considering the motives and impact of the corporations hosting and serving the model. The goal isn't to make you a better developer, or even a more productive developer, its to make you dependent on their service and start driving up the rents to access it. The goal is to extract your time, your money, and your knowledge feeding these models your plans for the work you want to achieve. They are not benevolent.
