We ended up with around 8 inches of snow but the worse part of it is moving in as snow is turning to rain and the temps are below freezing. We should get another 1 to 2 inches of snow first. The rain that turns into ice that comes in after the snow is what takes out the power and really makes travel unsafe in #AppalachianOhio #Ohio #Weather #OHwx #wx

Luckily, we have a whole-house generator that automatically switches over that runs everything but the oven and dryer. We have heat, and so far, the small village hasn't had a water main break. We are stocked up with water, though, just in case.

@paul

About 9" so far here in NE OH. Daughter in DC has had 3" of sleet and then freezing rain comes. . . ugh, yes, I'll take snow!

@FallsMom Be safe. I have been viewing the OHGO traffic cameras from @ohgo here on the fediverse. It's wild!

@paul

Yep! I didn't know ohgo was here, thanks for pointing that out!

@FallsMom You're welcome. It posts one random camera an hour apart, I think.
@paul I got about 8" in blown areas, ie corners that caught the wind. Ok, I have a single drift that deep. The rest of it is pretty sparse coverage, but the ice is thick on the roads and roofs. I'm just praying my pecan and pear trees make it.
@MissConstrue My camera deceived me. We didn't start with rain. Just dry snow. All the wind up on this mountain and really dry snow made it look less, esp on the roof, until you see the flat ground. It was just blowing it off the roof, tables, furniture, etc.
