@Tutanota never let people tell you they are user friendly though! It really annoys me when “Google alternatives” get promoted that are overcomplicated, ugly, and unusable for normal people.🤷

I honestly think many open-source developers don’t prioritise usability because they assume their products will always be fringe and non-commercial, so UX and onboarding are neglected. It becomes a badge-of-honour exercise to even get them working. 🛠️ 1)

so much open source has not prioritised user experience, design.

and the tragedy is that the commercial options aren't super great - open source could really jump ahead.

@rzeta0 @Tutanota couldn't agree with you more. Aurora Store is a perfect example of this failure. My experience is sadly typical:
° Homepage cluttered with ads (ironically)
° No obvious download flow
° No clear explanation of what it is, how it works, or how to use it
° Multiple APK versions dumped in a folder with zero guidance

That’s not “freedom from Google.”
That’s DIY software archaeology.
