So yesterday @louisa_ and I took apart the church organ with help from our mate Steven. Our garage is now full of pipes and organ parts and other weird stuff from the church, including a cool lectern.

We're going back soon with a bigger van for the largest pipes, which are up to 10ft tall!

Unfortunately I wasn't able to make the organ work for one last performance, but we did blow through a few individual pipes and they sounds quite lovely.

@louisa_ @johnl I’m 100% here for this batshittery.

@tamonten @louisa_ thanks! it might not be quite your wheelhouse, but any general solenoid advice? going to need to control air to all these!
@johnl not my wheelhouse I’m afraid, but they’re old enough that I’d just make sure things are actually clean not just look clean.
@tamonten it predates solenoids - it was entirely analogue except for the main wind blower (and presumably that was a later addition!). But I'll be rebuilding it with solenoids so as not to take up as much space.
@johnl @tamonten This is the sort of shithousery I’d probably get up to if left to my own devices. I’ll have to settle for vicarious organ shenanigans instead.
@jamesholden @johnl Shall I knock up some “Team Batshittery” tee shirts?
