Can someone who understands #thermocouples explain why my propane fridge/freezer won’t stay lit? You can see the thermocouple glow red and the flame dial goes all the way to the right, indicating the thermocouple works, yet when I let go of the gas ignition button, flame goes out.
@belpatca You've probably figured this out by now, but if not: Thermocouples are wear parts and need replacing every now and then (5-10 years on most boat cookers, depending on use). Usually not very expensive, ours were about €8 each.
@yngmar this fridge has a new thermocouple that I put in just last year. But flies keep crawling into the chimney, then drop down onto the burner and get incinerated, coating the thermocouple with a layer of carbon. I discovered I really have to scrub the carbon off with a wire brush to get the thermocouple to work again.

@belpatca Hah! With a cooker, cleaning it would've been my first suggestion, but I didn't think the fridge ones would get dirty. Damn flies :)

One more reason to switch to a compressor fridge ;-)
