Ok the gang here is going to a road trip soon to the Asian market which is far enough away to be a uncommon occurrence.
My local markets have very limited selection so I'm planning on getting:

* Cooking wine
* Dark soy sauce
* Thai staples (garngal, lime leaves, lemongrass etc)
* Noodles
* Dumpling wrappers

What else should I get while I'm there? Preferably versatile staples that can be used for s bunch of stuff

Problem is idk how many new things I'll have the mental energy to research and try, I'm also kinda picky which makes it harder

Defs gonna make Tom Kah soup tho

@rachel for
spicy stuff: gochugaru, gochujang, chili oil and/or chili crisp, kashmiri chili powder

non-spicy: fermented black soybeans, seaweed sheets, miso, curry pastes. we also usually buy coconut milk there because it's cheaper

@rachel If you like the spicy: sichuan peppercorn. Can be used in a variety of stir fry and soups to get that unique "mouth numbing cold" feeling.
