Imagine if people acted in real life like they do on social media... you could be casually having a chat with your mate about how you need to pop to Tesco or that you heard a new Aldi opened down the road and some random sticks their head in to say "I like Sainsburys" and then just carries on their way.
@SaintlySin some people in East Anglia actually behave like that in real life (especially in pubs and night time venues), and its reflected in the cases that end up before the Magistrates Courts...
@vfrmedia I fear I'm about to dive head first into a rabbit hole

@SaintlySin I think its a regional difference, compared to London/SE England where I previously lived and strangers rarely interacted with you for any reason.

When I first moved here I didn't drive and rode a bicycle everywhere, and was so surprised by fellow cyclists all waving to me I actually dismounted and checked over my bike and where I was going, thinking they were trying to warn me about a potential mechanical issue, or that I was about to ride to the scary roundabout with 60mph live traffic which feeds onto the highway (it turns out that older cyclists routinely wave to each other round here, unless they are on a racing bike and doing so could put you off balance or be unsafe due to poor road surfaces..)
