This is profoundly dumb, but it is real:

This is an actual post from The White House showing Trump pressured Nobel Peace Prize winner MarĂa Corina Machado to come to Washington to hand over her prize.

In all likelihood, her thinking is this: Giving Trump the physical prize does not change the fact that she won, while not handing over the prize could have severe consequences for her and the future of Venezuela.

What will he ask for next? King Charles’ crown? Noah Lyles 100m gold medal?

@randahl but doesn't it change things? She gave the PEACE PRIZE to a man who has allowed and excused zip-typing children & then lied for those responsible. That doesn't sound like a "freedom fighter" to me. And I'm speaking as a mom who has watched my child sob over losing his friends, important things (we can't fit in our car for our move) from people he loves and probably will never see alive again due to their age.
If she okays treating people in the US this way, why wouldn't she do it?

@Zerochaos80 if you mean, does it not change the view on her, I most definitely think it does.

When she won, I saw a lot of positive interest in her across social media. Now I see a plethora of negative posts. She is now seen more as a Trump collaborator.

I wonder how it changes public perception of her inside Venezuela.

@randahl that's my question. If anything good could come from Trump's disaster of presidency, I hope it is people realizing how fast things can go from 0 to all the way messed up in a fraction of a second. Then maybe people will pay closer attention and hold elected officials accountable. But the legal system needs to change.
If Mexico managed to change how their version of SCOTUS functioned, we could do that here, especially considering they shouldn't have the power they gave themselves.
