Just havin a normal one here in The Arctic. Another 60GB of RAW files to work through from this evening.

This set was taken with my fisheye lens, because it's super wide with a little over 120° field of view. And that's handy when you want to capture what's happening from one horizon to another.

(Exposures are F4 for 4sec at ISO 4000. Lumix S9 and TT Artisan 11mm F2.8 MF)

When we made our "Cabin Fever Cookbook" we ended up with an entire chapter on what to do with hot dogs. They have way better dogs up here than in Melbourne.

Anyway, we just had moose tacos thanks to a friend who does moose culling in the area every Sept. Low food miles! Have half a freezer full of fish they've caught as well. We do OK with local foods, we really do :)

It's very lean compared to beef, otherwise yes. Same for reindeer. Always needs lots of butter to cook up :)

They have quotas to manage moose populations up here. It's very regulated. But one moose can feed a lot of people for the winter.

@ewen @Kirsty sounds like moose is similar to kangaroo, in leanness? Have to have it rare if eaten as a steak?

Yeah it's not popular as a steak. Mostly slow cooked in a stew, or mince for burger. It's wouldn't buy it at a super market, but when you a friend who can share some from his own hunting, that is a special thing.

@ewen oh our dogs are pretty mediocre. You need to find a butcher who specialises in sausages to find a decent hot dog here.
