Finished watching the first two episodes of #StarTrek #StarfleetAcademy. I enjoyed these two episodes very much! I found a lot to love and write about but what I love most is that the show is taking its time to introduce the characters and let them slowly develop. No frantic action scene one after another! I can relax when watching the show and don't have to worry about missing this or that callback or Easter egg - there's time! I love the soundtrack (the hints of "Ilia's theme!" 🥲) and the show is visually beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing how the story and the characters and their relationships are developing. Again, I love how the show is taking its time, I have time to let it all sink in, I needed that, especially in our current time! 🖖
@gaghyogi49 Thanks for this review! I’m a big fan of ST: Discovery, and wasn’t sure if this show would be too much of a departure for me to enjoy. It sounds like I would definitely enjoy though. Also, it’s a good time for me to get Paramount+ again so I can finally watch the most recent season of Strange New Worlds
@gaghyogi49 Only had time to watch the first episode, but can see there's gonna be plenty to keep you busy!

My main criticism was the use of the "felony murder" conviction. It's an almost uniquely American law. It's been largely abolished or replaced with much less serious charges in most other English speaking democracies. John Oliver did a whole episode about how unjust and barbaric it is. It was really jarring seeing it in Star Trek. And their later regret wasn't about the law itself.
