hot take: framework is still less worse than most other computer manufacturers
@root overpriced and supports bad political things... so as bad as Apple yeah :)
@thio also most other manufacturers (including Apple) directly support the military industrial complex
@thio when the option is between [Computer From Company That Donated To Bad Guy] and the [Military Industrial Complex Torment Nexus 3000] I will choose the former any day of the week
@root @thio i think part of my brain is annoyed by me being too nuanced so it tries to counteract it by being reactionary instead so i view both companies as "corposludge bullshit manufacturer" because they are
i'd honestly rather have a slower computer made by a gay than a faster, non-repairable/open computer made by "the only good corporation guys trust me it'll be different this time"

@root it amazes me how some think fucking Apple is better

or i guess it’s not too surprising, but like, lol

@root Like legiterally i saw someone on this wretched platform say their moving to a macbook becuase framework bad

@root i think it would be difficult to find a non-shitty computer manufacturer

the primary reason i dislike framework at the moment is not the political stuff but the copious number of faults ive had to deal with

@root I am yet to see a notebook vendor other than Framework, that required two motherboard replacements due to design failures.

@root maybe. from what I've heard/seen they are easy to repair but you'll need it because they break a lot and Framework support is bad.

And imo there's no such thing as a good company

@mpk framework support has been nothing but helpful and understanding to me, though that's just my experience
@root @mpk I needed to send their legal team a physical letter to get them to agree to a refund that I had a legal right to
@root hot take: you should not buy *any* newly manufactured laptop/computer
@root It's still better to buy something used. It's way cheaper & certain older laptops are about as repairable.
