Not content with littering up the Earth, the billionaires are now coming for our night sky too. I wish we could shoot all of it down.

@Gargron that's before the junk starts raining down on our heads!!

@acm_redfox @Gargron That's already happening: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoon/spacex-cbc-debris-space-junk-sask-1.7231571

1-3 of these satellites re-enter everyday.

@planet4589 and @sundogplanets post about it often too.

SpaceX retrieves space junk from Sask. farmer | CBC News

Barry Sawchuk made headlines earlier this year when he said a giant piece of space debris had slammed into his field. This week, SpaceX came to his farm near Ituna, northeast of Regina, to collect the space junk.

@derickr @Gargron @planet4589 @sundogplanets oh, I know full well! I just meant, their issues were bad, and the space junk falling is maybe more terrible! and also, for that matter, that we're putting so much junk up there that we may not be able to fly anything through it soon!
@Gargron In other news we are only 1 collision away from a cascade that would destroy earths entire satellite network and make space travel impossible because of the debris
@Gargron I wish we could just shoot it all to bits where it is and laugh as their dreams of colonizing space go down the drain.
@Gargron @dalias I mean, if enough of us start working on such a project, I'm sure it could be done. >:3
@tk @Gargron There's no hope of doing that kinetically without orbital launch capabilities. You'd pretty much have to hack them to make them crash into each other. Only other option might be lasers, but I don't think it's remotely practical to get enough power.
@Gargron he's going to kessler us all.
@llamasoft_ox @Gargron There is going to be massive knock-on where satellite parts rain down and kill people.
@Gargron If he's too stupid to run a space company he's going to prevent everyone else from doing so...
@Gargron We need to identify the companies that are funding and supporting this. And then target them with as much negative publicity as possible.
@Gargron space exploration shouldnt be privatized, its complete disaster.
