UK data on influenza is in till December 29th.
The trend can still change a bit with an update next week to incorporate more of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, but it seems messages of "superflu" were too much.

Age distribution of those infected seems in line with expectations and previous years. The elderly are hit the hardest.

In other words, in some parts of the world Influenza has hit harder this year, but this is not everywhere. There is, of course, nothing else at play as some still try to convince people of = #Leonardi_Effect

And, no, there is no "immune damage, exhaustion, dysregulation" but what is physiological or common after an infection.
