The ZyXEL NWA55AXE arrived today. But I'm not sure if it is broken or not. When I connect it to the POE Injector (or my POE switch) it sends 0 packages into the network and it also does not respond on its default IP 192.168.1.2. Not even when I add an arp entry for its mac and try to ping it.
If only I'd know where my TTL adapter is...

@lukario Hmm, dann stimmt irgendwas mit dem Ding nicht. Mal sehen was damit los ist. Der (überteuerte) TTL adapter sollte in ein paar stunden ankommen.
Mal sehen ob das ding DOA ist oder was ihm nicht schmeckt.
Ein vorteil von Amazon ist echt, dass wenn man sein zeug nicht findet man es sich dort einfach mit same day delivery kostenlos "leihen" kann :P
Yea, someone played around with this thing before me.
While unplugging and replugging it I got this output.
It Kernel panics. That's why it doesn't send a single network package.
Thanks #amazon for sending me a used product instead of a new one...
I think I'll send this thing back as defective. The commands I enter on the TTL often cut out (could be my adapter having a shitty connection but I replugged it a few dimes now. And even when It starts to download the file from the tftp it just does nothing afterwards?!?
(Neither with the atns command listed in the openwrt bug report, nor with just specifying an ip to atns followed by atnz or atgo)...
@lukario It appears it succesfully flashed the firmware using tftp after all (the hash is different).
But it also Kernel panics and fails to mount the root fs...
@lukario booting or flashing the freifunk image directly using tftp didn't work. I've tried the factory image now (unzip the firmware update .zip and put the content into the tftp directory then tell it to update the firmware from the contained .bin file (don't know if it needs the .conf file as well, I just put all of them in there).
Now it has zy... kernel messages at boot. So the one I got the device with was not the factory image.
It now even boots to a "Username:" prompt.
@lukario natürlich funktioniert default username und passwort auch nicht.
Und weil ich jetzt die firmware gefixt habe geht es auch nicht mehr so einfach in den bootloader...
@lukario So habe mir jetzt deren bescheuerte App runter geladen. Einen account in der #Nebula Cloud von #Zyxel gemacht. Den AP dort hinzugefügt.
Dann hat es mir gesagt, der wäre bereits für einen anderen Kunden registriert (also hat derjenige nicht nur beim #OpenWRT flashen gebrickt, sondern auch in der hersteller cloud registriert gelassen und an amazon zurückgeschickt... WTF)
Hat zwar angeboten mit dem QR-Code ihn in mein Konto umzuziehen, aber irgendwas passt immer noch nicht.

Ok compiler being broken means the "unzip" package is not installed.
That also fixed most of the errors. Now I just need to figure out what it is missing when it says "Please install ncurses" as ncurses is installed...
Hmm it's neither "ncurses", "ncurses6", nor "ncurses5"....

Hey it worked. I messed up something trying to flash a firmware from within openwrt though, but after I just installed the webui luci and uploaded the freifunk firmware there it worked immediately.
I've now freifunk firmware up and running on it.
Only drawback the freifunk firmware is older than the openwrt one I just built. The #ffm #freifunk firmware is 5.15.158, where as my openwrt one was basically mainline.
5.15 is lts, however 5.15.197 would be latest there...
@lukario es gibt freifunk/Gluon firmware, aber irgendwie hatte keine direkt via TFTP booten/geflasht werden können. Musste erst ein OpenWRT bauen und draufknallen und von dort in der LuCI WebUI (OHNE beibehalten der Config) dann das Freifunk image flashen. Ansonsten ist das immer auf die Füße gefallen. Kann aber sein, dass ich irgend etwas falsch gemacht habe und die Konfig nicht vollständig gewiped wurde bei meinen versuchen vorher.
Vorbesitzer hatte ja schon etwas rumgespielt.
