Despite doing some long recces, I found my actual #NewYearPlantHunt tough going. Saw 66 species in flower (around 6 fairly marginal) and failed to get to 2 others (Ivy & Small Nettle) in the allotted 3 hours. Also missed Tansy seen a few days earlier.

First plant of the day : abundant Winter.Heliotrope by Geography, University Park. Last plant: Smooth Hawksbeard.

Had planned another #NewYearPlantHunt today, but cold weather, residual snow and the need to recuperate from Thursday have nixed it.

Two days of sub-zero temperatures will zap quite a few flowers too.

Just been out, and boy was that the right decision. Random patches of ice, packed snow everywhere. Navigating from one dry bit of pavement to the next is always tedious, but, because I have COPD, it also pushes through a threshold of comfort & I have to keep stopping.
