Yes yes yes and yes. And analysts in Europe have been saying this for quite a while too.
“harness the power of your unity and stand strong. This may require ceding national sovereignty and reducing unanimous decision-making in some cases. But managing that discomfort is arguably better than relying on an ambivalent superpower.”

@rikefranke.bsky.social I believe the current ‘United States’ can and will not survive this #trumpregime period of rapid collapse. The #timemagazine quoted “new” #usa version that will need to be built, is gonna be a collection of aligned states on the West and East coast, with a #christonationalistfascist center. I see no ither solution than #softsecession | #uspol
@rikefranke.bsky.social as an American we are broken right now. half the country hates what is going on but the other half is just on being cruel and humiliating for the lolz.

@rikefranke.bsky.social That... Stop hoping the US will return in the way it was. And if you look closely, they NEVER have been such good friends either... Europe needs to be strong. In Tech, Defense, Energy and Trade. Because it's the only choice we have left if we don't want to be steamrollered between US, Russia and China...

We have all the requirements and brainpower and skill to do it, all it takes is unity and political willpower.

@rikefranke.bsky.social I'm not seeing any European action to prevent the rise of Trumpism in the EU. If anything, their widely unpopular anti-democratic proposals (chat control, age verification) are pushing people away from the EU.

We need stronger courts, more independent journalism, more transparent policy making, more direct representation. But all we get Ursula being mediocre and openly flirting with far right ideology.
