Progress on the ikea chair covers. Love the scary overlocker (Juki Sumato) - so, so, so much better than my old Brother. The tractor foot went over these thick quilted seams and around the tight curves like a hot knife through butter.

And already cat approved, before I even get to the hemming!

Nice idea! I was super happy to make a quilt-as-you-go lap quilt that covers the back of my extra-ugly IKEA Poang chair. And, I made it only with items in my existing stash.

@EllenInEdmonton brilliant - quilt as you go sounds much more manageable!!

These are because the elderly missus demands hand feeding, typically on those chairs, and is a messy eater. While the Ikea covers are washable, the seat needs to be unscrewed to remove them. I want something I can unclip or untie and throw in the wash without needing a screwdriver 😅

Great idea. I made matching tie-on seat covers for the seat and the ottoman of this chair. Although they don't completely cover either one, they are a lot more attractive than the oatmeal-coloured fabric of the chair. I'm very tempted buy a Kaffe Fassett jelly roll, to make a rainbow lapquilt for my couch. My sister and I made placemats for our family members during a week together, and those patterns are SO vibrant! My QAYG quilt was trickier because I had the extra-fluffy polyester batting, instead of the thin cotton that everyone else used. Still, I finished the project.
Machine-washable is important for handmade projects!
