I just bought a dangerous boost buck converter at #39c3
@th I find it quite irritating that this comes in a case that I associate with cheap USB sound cards, also known as USB DACs/ADCs/waveform generators (with medium bandwidth and possibly troublesome around DC components).
@chrysn @th I think it's a common injection molded form factor, I've seen the almost identical models with various different colours and opacity, with terminals and usb
@th I want to see what all the warnings on the other packets say though

@fraggle @th I was curious as well, but as one says 'This product may lead to a deeper understanding of circuits' and another 'Lorem ipsum', I'm good.

It's a fun idea, but don't believe everything needs warning labels. After you burn yourself a couple of times with fire, you should know better. (I do get that it's from a smokes vending, and it fits the vibe.)

@th Those are great, and I just love the warning sticker — even though I’ve never burned down anything with one of these converters, but then I’ve only used them with power banks that have a pretty strict current limit.
@th what else is in this marvellous vending machine?
@th May result in magic smoke.
@th I have used these to control the speed of some small fans for a raspberry pi cluster. No major issue and nothing burnt out…
yet.
