My faith in humanity lies just three miles up the road where, in what used to be almost useless tilled acreage, they built a solar farm off one side of the road. The other side remains empty, where a data center was slated to go in three years ago. Recently, the county passed an ordinance that solar farms have to guarantee the market value of homes in a certain radius - and pay out the difference if a home sells below value. As if a solar farm (rather small, but impressive in regards to my electric bill!) is what would degrade property value.

Seriously tho, I get your sentiment and you're not the only one, but I think I envision the future a bit differently.

Like, I doubt the ruling class will let use "repurpose the data centers" into some thing that doesn't bring them profits.

So all I'm hoping for is that we will have rebel groups blowing up data centers, as one of many forms of resistance against late stage capitalism and it's logical final form, fascism.

But if there can be peaceful revolution, I'm all for it; and them by all means, repurpose those data centers. I'm just doubtful if that path is possible, but I do hope so.

First we guillotine that ruling class. I’m happy with the real thing or taxing them to “death.”

I think the taxing thing works better, because corpopersons are our biggest problem.

I just don’t want to turn all the lifespan embodied in a DC used for nothing but carbon release and heat generation.

But I’m absolutely with you. I’ll be polite with my torch and pitchfork but I’m done playing along.
