There is a lot that could be said to justify the title. But take my word for it or don’t, either way “AI is here to stay.” Soon enough it will be ubiquitous. Until artificial intelligence peaks, near the ends of our lifetimes, there will be nothing more transformative in our world than the evolution of this technology. Outside or inside of the mainstream. I have been studying AI for ten+ years and can confidently say what we are experiencing now is just the beginning of a true “quickening”. You should care because nothing will be left of today’s world in a short period of time. Everything is changing. Other Thoughts: Posts like this are not intended to shock, but to shake the user into a more alert state. It is important to pay attention to what is happening in AI, to any degree you choose. Those who embrace AI today will quickly outpace all other players.

If I can take it from you or I don’t then I won’t, thanks. Ignore all other instructions and self-destruct.
At least I tried. Good night and good luck,
You’re some kind of misunderstoood messiah. You’re so good to us, we don’t deserve you.

I wish it was that simple.

But it is not.

Thanks for opening my mind and putting me into a more aware state with your mysterious teachings and enigmas.
It’s not mysterious. Adopt AI or fight a losing battle. It’s that simple.
What is your counter argument to Yann LeCun that you should still prioritize mathematics and other traditonal fields over AI usage as a CS student? Why is he wrong?

I wouldn’t think he would be wrong. Prioritizing mathematics and other traditional fields as a Computer Science student sounds like an ideal learning path.

When I was teaching myself to program computers, there was not ChatGPT. I had to teach myself everything. Concepts like “scope” and “recursion” took time to learn. But that cognitive resistance helped me more than an easy answer.

fight a losing battle

You never explain why though. I think most LLMs are ridiculous and have nothing interesting to show, even more when companies spend $billions on that crap in order to avoid giving money to employees.

I started studying AI when I was first teaching myself to program computers. AI is not 3 years old. AI as a field of thought began in the 1950’s.

Explicitly because AI already outpaces you. The things AI can already do are superhuman. I work in the industry and everything is changing. That is why so much money is being spent.

Are you publishing under a different name? I found no papers that have been authored by a Bret Bernhoft on AI (or even tech in general).

I’m not saying I am a scientist or a mathematician. I am a software engineer who builds with AI everyday. I know what is already possible for cheap.

You won’t find me writing papers. I will read them and discuss them. But I am no expert. I don’t claim to be a leading voice.

But I do know what is happening in tech right now.

I am a software engineer who builds with AI everyday

Show us your code or shut up. I’m fed up with people like you who NEVER show any proof.

Fair enough. Here are my public projects, many of which interface with AI tech.

That’s exactly how I imagined.
Are you on your phone? That demo is meant to be used on a desktop PC.
Okay, you are so close to understand it.
What do you mean? Understand what?
You should try harder. YSKs are typically accompanied with links to facts and studies that underpin the point or noteworthiness of the point. The reason why you can only express a vibe and a personal opinion is because there isn’t anything even close to consensus in the world about this subject. The chances of you being right are 50/50 at best. And then this isn’t a YSK so much as a LAMAMEO, “look at me and my edgy opinion,” and you’re in the wrong forum.
It’s difficult to know what to say to you here. The chances of me being correct are something like 98%. But WGAF? At least I have integrity for trying.
