YSK artificial intelligence isn't a passing trend or fashion statement. And this technology will only grow more sophisticated, ever more rapidly in the coming months and years. - Lemmy.World

There is a lot that could be said to justify the title. But take my word for it or don’t, either way “AI is here to stay.” Soon enough it will be ubiquitous. Until artificial intelligence peaks, near the ends of our lifetimes, there will be nothing more transformative in our world than the evolution of this technology. Outside or inside of the mainstream. I have been studying AI for ten+ years and can confidently say what we are experiencing now is just the beginning of a true “quickening”. You should care because nothing will be left of today’s world in a short period of time. Everything is changing. Other Thoughts: Posts like this are not intended to shock, but to shake the user into a more alert state. It is important to pay attention to what is happening in AI, to any degree you choose. Those who embrace AI today will quickly outpace all other players.

I hope this makes sense

YSK about the Orion, Comet and Neon internet browsers; fresh competition for Firefox and Chromium

YSK about the Orion, Comet and Neon internet browsers; fresh competition for Firefox and Chromium - Lemmy.World

- Orion [https://kagi.com/] (from Kagi) - Comet [https://www.perplexity.ai/comet] (from Perplexity) - Opera Neon [https://www.operaneon.com/] (from Opera) What is interesting about Orion is, it is from a Search Engine company who contrasts themselves with Google, or Alphabet in general. Orion is only available on Apple products. But given the company’s stance on privacy, I assume Linux, Android and even Windows will eventually be supported. While Comet and Neon are “agentic AI” browsers. There are many other similar browsers, but these two have a lot of forward momentum and investment tied in. Which means you will be hearing more about both Comet and Neon in the not-so-distant future. Orion and Neon seem to be aiming to replace Firefox as the “trusted browser” for the next generation of the web. And Comet is the big player (IMO), given the developers. You should know about Orion, Neon and Comet because the tech is advancing so quickly. And will soon offer you a different experience of the internet. When I first learned about agentic AI browsers, I saw where Firefox was headed. Mozilla is now competing with younger, AI-native and more nimble competitors. The internet game is changing. Which is why you should care. TL;DR - How we access the internet is about to change forever. And learning about this emerging trend now is valuable intelligence.

Linux permissions are rather straightforward

A little developer humor

I say this with love for the global Linux community, but we need to be able to laugh at ourselves from time to time.
