There's a special place in hell for people who post the closed captions in all capital letters. When you are reading braille, whether a letter is capitalized or not is indicated by a capital sign, and if everything is in THERE are multiple capital signs that take up a bunch of space on the braille display and when you're working with only 40 cells and eight of those cells are taken up with information relating to capitalization, it is incredibly frustrating! Anyway, these are the things that I think about during #DeafBlindMovieNight
@pawpower That's like someone yelling at you all day every-day.
@pawpower Even worse are the visual representations of capital letters all run together, which often don't even show on Braille displays. And they're horrible with speech because the mind has to keep up with the word capital interspersed between all of the letters as the words are being speled out. I'm sure it looks cool, but it's a nightmare!
@radiorick52 @pawpower It doesn't look cool. It's just a stupid old carryover and makes it seem like the captions are yelling at you. As a seeing person I think all caps only looks cool when used in short sentences or single words, with the right font.
@pawpower allcaps is harder to read for people with some sight too, who rely on letter shapes to help them read words. Sentence case is always most accessible!
@bright_helpings I've mostly experienced this with older shows where the cC was done in the 90's. Modern shows don't seem to do this as often.

@pawpower just an idea for those who make the software for the braille, why not do it like in Spanish you have the upside down exclamation mark in the beginning and the normal exclamation mark in the end, so begin with a upper case marker and end with an upper case marker to indicate that all in between is upper case.

Not sure if you think it would be an improvement or not, but at least it would leave you with 38 characters, sure you wouldn't know until last position that all was upper case...

But sure in the first case people shouldn't use all caps, they should use the right font instead that is all caps... but I guess we seeing people are lazy...
