Windows 11 backlash is exploding. Forced upgrades, OS ads, hardware limits, and nonstop tracking are pushing users away.

This video breaks down why Microsoft should be worried and why more people are looking at Linux and self-hosted alternatives.

Bill Gates PANICS as Windows 11 Backlash Explodes — Users Prepare to DITCH Microsoft

YouTube
@beitmenotyou First XBox falling apart now their OS LITERALLY falling apart now that they're rewriting the code with AI.

@beitmenotyou Haven't looked at the YouTube video but question its thumbnail and title.

Why would #BillGates be panicking? He isn't #Microsoft CEO any more and he's been off their board for years. Maybe he has some Microsoft stock, but I imagine he's wealthy enough to have a smart broker manage his portfolio risk against any Microsoft business issues.

This is no defense of Mr. Gates. Just noting there's a whole new group of rich people running Microsoft into the ground now.

@DanielMReck That's a fair call, and you're right on the facts. Gates isn't running Microsoft day to day anymore, and the thumbnail language is definitely doing some heavy YouTube drama lifting.

My point was less about Gates personally and more about the culture and direction Microsoft has taken since. Forced upgrades, ads baked into the OS, tighter hardware locks, and ever deeper telemetry aren't accidental choices. They reflect priorities that feel increasingly out of step with users.

So yeah, different people at the wheel now, but the backlash is still very real. And it's exactly why more folks.

@beitmenotyou I'm right with you with Microsoft's consumer-antagonizing choices. I dumped Windows as my daily driver when 22H2 wouldn't update and demanded a full reinstall... So I did, right to Linux.

Once that worked as proof of concept, I moved the rest of my devices off Windows and haven't looked back. Only complaint is Adobe software I need for client work.

Unfortunately I still have to support Microsoft infrastructure at my day job, but that's the price of earning an IT paycheck.

That pretty much mirrors what I hear again and again. One forced reinstall or arbitrary block is often the moment people finally ask, Why am I putting up with this?

Linux, as a proof-of-concept, becomes Linux as the default very quickly. Adobe is still the big chain for a lot of folks, sadly, but even that grip is starting to loosen.

And yeah, plenty of us still babysit Microsoft stacks at work while quietly running Linux at home. A familiar compromise.

@beitmenotyou @DanielMReck
even i don't like putting bill gates on title and preview picture. bill gates has nothing to do with windows in recent years.

put satya nadella instead. he is well known already.

@zetabeta @DanielMReck Yeah, that’s fair too. The gates in the thumbnail are more YouTube shorthand than reality.

At the same time, I think the backlash is less about one person and more about the direction Microsoft has taken under its current leadership. Satya Nadella absolutely owns that era.

Different face, same frustrations for users. That’s what’s driving people to look elsewhere.
