I've sunk over 70 hours at this point into Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (still haven't beaten it, so no spoilers) and it's a really excellent game. That said, it feels so bloated. Remake took me like 35 hours to best (40 with the DLC) and felt like it was a good length. Rebirth is packed with side quests, exploration, and so many mini games.

And it's all good quality content, but it just makes finishing the game take so long if I don't want to feel like I'm "missing" stuff. And even so, I'm not seeing all there is to see.

There seems to be a consensus that more content in games is better as long as that content is good quality, but I don't agree. The longer a game is, the better it has to be to justify its length.

And ya, maybe it's my fault for being compelled to complete so much optional side content, but in my defense, games' best moments can often be found in side content, and if I'm investing the time in a game, why would I want to skip that?
