It is time. Welcome to the Silly Scribbles Advent Thread. I have no overarching plan this year, other than I *might* try & add an additional Friend for each day, because I think that might be funny by Christmas Eve.
Anyhow, starting with one based on my Christmas Card design for this year (mainly because I am very behind with everything & it was the only festive image I have done).

Winging it a bit (again) today, but can't miss the deadline on day 2 so have a slightly unorthodox ski jump from Friend at Creag Dubh, taking a leap towards the sprawling splendour of Rannoch Moor.

Day 3 and I'm sticking with the Scottish theme, with this EXCELLENT Highland Cow in Glen Nevis, in the process of being decorated for Christmas. It's hard to tell, but I assure you the coo is happy about it. Consent is important in the world of festive bling, as with all things.

Day 4 and we visit a local loch on a particularly cold & icy day.

Day 7, and as it's Sunday we were going for a silent Sunday style photo, then the Friends decided they wanted festive headgear and it was silent no more.

Day 8, and Myfanwy and Friend are in the sleigh ready to deliver presents, but the reindeer don't seem too keen.
Day 9, and there is absolutely no way I'd forgotten about it until the last minute and then had to finish it during a power cut. That would be ridiculous.
Day 10, and they got up the mountain safe & sound, but seem to have misplaced their hats. These things happen. We will find them.
Day 11, and the Friends leave the mountains and travel to Edinburgh during the Scottish Enlightenment to do a bit of skating.
Day 12, and it's Friday (woohoo!) so time for another advent collaboration with the Friday Dancers.

Today we're revisiting a particularly spectacular character from one of the Victorian Christmas cards discovered last year.
Welcome to Day 13 and the Sausage Sash Turkey Procession.
Day 14, and the original goal was to do an advent picture that could sit in the #silentSunday space, & we very nearly managed it.
Then one friend found some strong coffee and a sheep & are maybe not quite as quiet as the others.
Day 15, and the Friends visit the Christmas Fair and have a go on the Helter Skelter. I am aware my 'theme' (such as it is) is to add a new friend each day, so please watch this one until 14 friends have gone round.
That would be grand.
Day 16, and the Friends decide to put on a pantomime, but I'm not going to lie, both them & I are regretting it 😆 Only 5 minutes left of the 16 December though (YMMV obvs.) so we're just going with it.
The chorus at the back are currently singing a song about how something amazing popped up after Friend gave that lamp a good rub. Oh aye.
Day 17, and we see the Friends off to watch a pantomime, rather than star in one. They had to go for the balcony seats, as their hats were blocking the view of the people behind them in the stalls.
Day 18, and the Friends decide to go for a bracing hike in the alps. Well, except the one that had to carry the placard, so went by cable car. And the other who is, for some reason, riding a sheep.
Day 19. They reached the top of the mountain. The clouds have cleared. It's the last Friday before Christmas.

Day 20 and the Friends demonstrate The Best Way to descend a mountain, once you've hauled your way all the way up it.
(also ooops! it's still the 20th December somewhere isn't it?! Have family stuff happening, & everything a pleasant blur)
Day 21 and time for a festive celebration, which is what I've been doing, and that's why this is a quick mash up of two previous Last Supper mash ups being posted very late at night and rapidly followed by dashing off to collapse in bed.

Day 22 & if I'm interpreting my internal narrative correctly they're now on their way home from their Last Christmas Supper via a foggy, sloping, Scottish street.
In my head at least one of them is singing 🎶 "show me the way to go home,
I'm tired & I want to go to bed,
I had a little drink about an hour ago
& it went right to my head..." 🎶
Day 23, Christmas Eve eve, and the Friends are all heading somewhere for their final advent gathering. You might need to watch a while to see all 23 😁
Day 24 &, although we have a secular festive celebration in House Eclectech, when I was wee day 24 on the advent calendar* was a double sized window with a nativity scene behind, so this is the natural end point for me.
Tbf the nativity wasn't knitted & the stable wasn't up a snowy Scottish mountain, but you have to put your own twist on things.
* Old school. No chocs or mini figs or cheese, just festive pics as you count down to the Big Day.
And in typical fashion I used so many words explaining the picture I ran out of space to say...
Whatever you're up to over the next few days I hope they are full of joy for you, as much as they possibly can be

Oh, one last thing before I head down to the local shop in the hope they have the one thing I forgot for our celebrations (d'oh!)... if you count all the Friends in that last picture & discover I didn't manage 24, PLEASE DON'T TELL ME 😆

@eclectech I too had the traditional, infinitely re-useable, picture-only advent calendar. Yours has been much more fun this year!

Do they still make them, do you think?! The teenager always looked horrified when I told them about it 😆 I always loved opening that extra big window on Christmas Eve.
