From the non-negotiables to the ‘just one more’ sides, we asked our social media team for their Christmas dinner favourites, and let’s just say, it makes for quite the feast! 🎄🍽️

🥂 What would you add from your country?

@EUCommission Vegan Hamburger, Vegan Rookworst, vegan Gehakt, Vegan smoked SalmonVegan Kipstukjes, etc etc.
@EUCommission I would add Love & Peace. Lets knit together, connect
@EUCommission There is a huge diversity about Xmas dinner. France+Suisse+Belgium+DOMTOM would fill 3 or 4 of those slides.
@EUCommission Swedish meatballs! The Christmas kind, preferably my moms 🤗
@EUCommission 🇵🇹Very typical… NOT!!! 🇵🇹 Merry Christmas!
@EUCommission cappone ripieno Is my traditional recipe for Christmas lunch, I removed the rib cage and filled it with minced pork and veal meat, cubes of mortadella and ham (cooked and dried) , apple and eggs

@EUCommission Looks yummy! From Spain, I'd add galician seafood.

Tell the team that we want the human recipes behind the pic!

You really need to humanize this account.

Cheers! ¡Salud!

@EUCommission
As a German I feel offended by being identified with Rosenkohl. It's also not very common as a Christmas dish.
@sebastianlaube Exactly, where is the potato salad and sausage? 😅
@sebastianlaube
But they just HAD to put Brussels in there somewhere 🤣
@EUCommission
@EUCommission KUŘÍZEK 🗣️🔥🔥🔥
@EUCommission
Who on earth chose the German food? This is anything but a Christmas dinner!
@EUCommission I think Croatia and Bulgaria stole our dishes. Also, I would add mămăligă, and boeuf salad
@EUCommission what if the social media team would be allowed to answer to comments here.
What you do on mastodon is a one-way communicwtion. Also known as advertising.
It is not what mastodon is for.
@gunstick @EUCommission they do reply to comments here? Emailing or calling your MEP is probably more effective though; Tilly Metz is great
@grischard @EUCommission i have NEVER had any reply here.
@gunstick @EUCommission once they replied to me about chat control but I was the only lucky one of the whole thread
@EUCommission in this part of Italy a traditional Christmas dish is Anolini al formaggio, a kind of fresh pasta filled with a mix of cheese, breadcrumbs, eggs and a bit of nutmeg served in broth
@EUCommission I’ll be eating plain food this Christmas. I’m doing this in solidarity with those who are maimed, killed or starving due to Israel’s EU-backed genocide in Palestine.
#Slovakia: opekance, and potato salad 😍
@EUCommission With such a question, it's hard to give a simple answer. ;)
@EUCommission I can recommend borscht with dumplings (barszcz z uszkami) and kutia (which you listed as kūčia). I'd add other Christmas Eve food, like fish soup, mushroom soup, cabbage with mushrooms as a dish of its own, as pierogi stuffing or with square pasta (łazanki). Add kompot (sweet boiled fruit drink) and poppy seed roll (makowiec) to that.

@EUCommission

it’s nice to learn what is eaten on this special day across whole Europe!

🇵🇱 Barszcz z uszkami 😋 that’s all time classic ever present on signifficant most of Xmas tables! Also sour cabbage with forest mushrooms is super popular as a meal on its own or as a dumplings stuffing.

@EUCommission I already like the mentioned dishes.

What i would like to add is the Dutch split pea soup, called Snert in Dutch.

@EUCommission Czech Vánočka, a delicious soft yellow thing with raisins, like Zopf from Ölz but better 😋
