Forgot to mention this. Over the weekend I went to the Whole foods in West Van. It had a Hannukah poster outside, which was really nice to see.

Then I went inside and saw the Hannukah display, which was matzoh, matzoh meal, and grape juice. That's it. Nothing else. Not even candles, or chocolate gelt, or anything.

@serge This is my favorite grocery store 🤦🏻‍♂️ - taken in small-town New Jersey 10+ years ago. (Note the bottom shelf…)

@mfessler

This really isn't the same thing as I'm saying though.

I'm saying that they had a display, specifically for hannukah, and the only things on it were matzoh and maybe grape juice.

They don't have a Jewish section in this grocery store.

That's in stark contrast to the ease at which you can find kosher food in stores in NY/NJ. I know- I lived in NJ from age 2-12.

@mfessler

And yes I saw the pork and beans. I don't think it's on purpose.

@serge Agreed. I was free associating on grocery store cluelessness, but I absolutely get the differences in your case.

@mfessler

Also sorry on my end. I'm a bit salty because I grew up in NJ (both the NY and the Philly parts) and I miss ready access to Jewish food and culture.
