Does anybody else often considers just how gross it is that it's virtually impossible to go a day without having a sales pitch flung at you?

Like, I am pretty good at blocking all the ads that are online, and in videos, but the moment I look out of my window, there will be some car with an ad driving by, or see an ad plastered on the wall, or, or, or.

I really can't be the only one that considers this a perennial harassment campaign that we somehow just consider normal...

@ainmosni it's disgusting, but I'm also so desensitized to it that it takes effort for me to notice it.

Like, there's a lighted billboard near me that irritates me because it's so fucking bright, and I don't often even look at what it's selling, but it's downright offensive to me that it's orders of magnitude brighter than everything around it at night.
@deathkitten I am so effective at blocking ads in my private space, that I'm not desensitised at all. Of course in differing gradations, like, street advertising I see the most, but god do TV/YT/web ads stand out to me when I see them.
@ainmosni @deathkitten I block ads online and we watch recorded TV to fast forward through them. I hate YT where you have to sit through some ads before you can skip - all advertisers go on my black list and I won't buy from them. I'm old - when TV ads came on we used the wasted time to make a cup of tea or go to the loo!
