Purple really brings out the contrast in the pcbart.
Which color do you like most?!?

@wer I like purple the most.
@wer So pretty *-*. How do you make something like this?
@neodc About 30h of sketching and discarding ideas. About 20h vectorizing, fine tuning the image and adapting it to PCB layers in Inkscape. Importing the svgs files for all layers in kicad 1min 😜
@wer I do like the purple, tho i'd call it "wine red". I don't know if there are any colors available beyond this, but i think a more dark blue purple could look amazing.

@laund @wer I think the photo’s ambient lighting distorts the color rendering quite a lot. I’ve seen the original and found it to be actually purple.

Edit: I tried to take a picture of my blue one to show it side by side with the blue design included in https://chaos.social/@calisti/115759582336203690, but I couldn’t get the color to show correctly without sunlight.

The blue comes out multiple shades further towards green than the design, which leans towards a purplish royal blue.

@laund @wer What I mean is that, viewing the photo without night shift color tinting, the board on the photo looks closer to the original than how it looks to my eyes under what is supposed to be a light source with a high color rendering index.

I would indeed expect the purple design also to lean towards yellow, and thus towards red, to some extent.

At WHY camp, somebody had a talk about this topic… maybe I can find it.

Creating Artistic PCBs in Kicad WHY2025

For this workshop, we will look at the various ways to incorporate custom artwork into your PCB design. Conversation is informal, all questions are welcome! Workshop given by DRC.

@wer They look so cool. I like purple the most, but black is also really nice!
@wer blue is really catching my eye!
