Windows User: My computer froze again. I have to restart it for the third time today

Linux User: That’s rough. My system has been running for 3 years straight without a single crash

Windows User: Wow! What have you been doing with all that uptime?

Linux User: Trying to get my usb ink printer to work 😅

@nixCraft Linux was warning us all along that the printers were evil. That’s why they only work with apple and msft.

@maxjmath @nixCraft
Nah, every printer I've used on Linux since 1998 has worked. Even "toy" portable Canon BJC85
Years ago I bought Epson, but for the last 15 years only Brother Printers. Work with Linux supplied or Brother supplied Drivers (inc scanner on Colour laser over LAN).

Even on Windows I avoided the evil fax cards and Printers that had no built-in stuff. like Win GDI.
I've had more problems with Windows & Printing.

@raymaccarthy @nixCraft Just to clarify my joke: it is not linux it is the printers. No printer I have ever owned has worked on any operating system. Maybe they just hate me.

@maxjmath @nixCraft
Or you buy dodgy printers?

Brother have been good.

Years ago (1990s?) HP lasers good, but inkjets then inferior to Epson.
All but high-end inkjets went rubbish, so we switched to Brother Laser as cheaper than Inkjet. If I wanted photos I'd get a high-end A3 with separate tanks. The cartridge is crazy money.

I used to print entire MS & Linux docs and MSS. I've saved €1000s in last 12 years reading & proofing on eink instead. The Nxtpaper 14 liberated me from PDF print.

@raymaccarthy @nixCraft I have actually been converted by the Brother acolytes but ironically I have not need to print since I bought it!
