@stavvers It's weird that someone would read those books and not get that the fireworks are key to Gandalf's character in Tolkien's moral system. There is nothing trivial about using power for delighting children instead of using it to wreck shit and hurt people. The hobbits and their silly little lives are literally Gandalf's secret weapon.
