Since The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has been canceled and I will now never get the opportunity to become famous and answer the Colbert Questionert, I thought it would be a fun weekly thing to do here on the fedi instead.

The Colbert Questionert is "a series of questions meticulously calibrated to plumb the depths of a guest’s psyche." The segments are on YouTube, and I'll share some of my favorites as we go along.

I will post one question every Monday until we've done them all. You can reply or quote or make your own pinned #introduction thread; whatever floats your boat! Just make sure you use the hashtag #FediQuestionert.

We'll cover animals, music, memories, and more.

So are you prepared to be known?

(Boost to spread the fun!)

My answer to #FediQuestionert Question 2: What's one thing you own that you really should throw out?

Hmm, had to think about this one. I've been decluttering off and on for a few years at this point, and there's definitely still stuff that needs to not be in my house anymore. But one specific item that I should throw away rather than try to sell or donate?

I guess I really should throw out my NC State sweatshirt that I got at the campus bookstore during orientation in 2002. It's super pilled on the inside to the point where it feels scratchy. And red is not really my color anyway...

#FediQuestionert Question 3:

What was your first concert?

My answer to #FediQuestionert Question 3: What was your first concert?

In 1994, my dad took me to see Billy Joel on his River of Dreams Tour. I was 9 years old. Billy Joel told a story about trashing a hotel room and throwing the TV in the pool. I got to see him again in 2007 and in 2009 when he was touring with Elton John.

My second concert was Backstreet Boys, and my third was Tina Turner with Joe Cocker. My most recent concert was my 15th time seeing my favorite band, Carbon Leaf. (I have a spreadsheet.)

My answer to #FediQuestionert Question 4: What is the scariest animal?

Definitely spiders. <shudders>

@djtoebeans My first concert is difficult to pin down since my family spent a lot of time at Carowinds when I was a kid. My dad and I stood outside the venue and listened to Simon and Garfunkel. I remember seeing Jan and Dean there and then buying their next album and finding my dad on the back cover in concert pics. hobie and I stumbled on Eddie Money playing at Busch Gardens back when we were dating, but he was a hot mess and we left before he finished one song.

But, the concert I consider my actual first, bonafide concert was Triumph at Hampton Roads. Nosebleed seats. Ants on the stage. But when the lighters came out during Magic Power, I stood enthralled - smiling so hard my jaws hurt with tears running down my face. It was epic and spiritual. #FediQuestionert

@feritae I went to Carowinds a lot too! Don't remember seeing any concerts, though. Just lots of rides. The Cyclone was my first upside-down roller coaster.

There's something about being in the nosebleeds. Magic. 🥰

@djtoebeans They had a large amphitheatre where big names like Simon and Garfunkel would play at night. Tickets were usually sold separate from park admission. I don't think I've been to Carowinds since 1995. Our trip was cancelled in 1996 by Hurricane Bertha and we could never coordinate the family after that year.
@feritae I definitely haven't been in years. Carowinds was in the news a few years ago because there was a big crack in one of the roller coasters, so I'm not exactly inclined to go back!

@djtoebeans

An old office chair, two of whose wheels have broken off and which I keep telling myself I'll fix. Ain't ever gonna happen.

It *is* handy for plomping things on until I decide where to put them.

@klu9

Ah, yes. The Temporary Storage Chair™! I have one of those myself, but it's a recliner I occasionally use for sitting.
