Day three of no furnace at our house. We have a gas fireplace that we run during the day, and a few space heaters. For the most part these have been doing the job. Today the wind has picked up and it appears to make it harder for us to keep warm, even though the temperature isn't a lot colder.

We need a new draft inducer motor. It's about the size of a softball and will be over $750 installed, including our "discount" for paying the company an annual fee for "service."

Our first house had a furnace failure during MLK Jr weekend, and it was also the draft inducer fan.

It seems like furnaces only break down when it's cold out and air conditioners only break when it's hot out. I wonder why that is? Hopefully the part will be found tomorrow.

@killick ugh, good luck. I'm glad you have some backup heat.

@APBBlue

Thanks. We're not in any danger, just a little uncomfortable. The fireplace makes a big difference.
