Saw Into the Woods today and while it was mechanically a very good production, the content felt a bit banal to me. On the ride home I tried to figure out if I'm alone with that opinion and found a perfectly fitting comment.
I think maybe cutting it down from the 2h 45min runtime could have helped a lot since sometimes a song and its first reprise were back to back? Or maybe the 80s were just a different time.
