“Apple would never have a screen in a screen”, says the CEO of Rivian… yet just a year ago, iPhone Mirroring – which puts your iPhone screen inside your Mac screen – was a major new feature of Mac OS. And widely liked too, for a reason: sometimes the thing you want just happens to be on your phone. No matter how much car companies want to trick themselves into thinking they can build in the apps and services to cater for *all* their customers, they simply can’t.

@tuomas_h @caseyliss @9to5Mac At the end of the day I think it all comes down to subscription money and data. They want me to pay twice for maps, music, and cellular data and want to know everything I’m listening to and where I’m going. Also, Rivian can’t handle texting from the infotainment even though they announced a complicated (and pricey!) new AI service that allows you text.
