I'm not entirely sure why some people think that protecting the elderly, NHS workers and themselves by the trivial act of wearing a face mask for the next few weeks is some kind of attack on their rights.

It's time we ended the reign of the terminally stupid.

@JanPV Such a frustrating attitude, often found in unlikely places (health workers themselves; loving family members of vulnerable people; others who by their own admission have been repeatedly infected over the past few years). Perhaps some kind of politicised magical thinking (wearing a mask is 'giving in', all that's needed is a 'positive attitude', expressing concern is 'weak', medical advice from health experts is 'fear-mongering'... etc etc). Exhausting.

@clarebee Absolutely. The bizarre thing is that this 'being strong' madness even extends to things like cancer: 'he pulled through because he's tough'.
