Are Evangelicals taught something vastly different than Catholics re: #Christmas story? I thought this was obvious, on a theological level. Matthew 2: 1 - 8 references Herod's paranoia & subsequent Massacre of the Innocents. Matthew 2: 13 - 15 references the Holy Family fleeing to Egypt. 🧵/2

- Yes, Joseph and Mary were enroute to Bethlehem from Nazareth for a Roman census, so indeed they were documented IN their native country. - They subsequently fled political violence under Herod & became UNDOCUMENTED REFUGEES in Egypt. -Ergo, #Jesus was an #undocumented #immigrant. #christmas / 🧵3

Should an #Evangelical pastor really ask ME (a lapsed #Catholic agnostic) for clarification re: #orthodoxy? Or is this simply a case of 'blinders' because it smacks of 'woke' 'lefty' ideology? Do people not get taught this? I'm irritated & confused but also want to be right. #christmas 🧵/4
