@Mastodon Can confirm it has worked. But it worked even better when boosting was the default and quote was in the context menu.

Incentives matter. Behaviour is often guided by incentives more than intent.

Things could remain better for longer if you left that setting for admins to configure. I’m sure many would choose the former behaviour.

@davey_cakes @renchap @Mastodon Yeah I know. But having been in software development for more than 30 years, I also know 95% of users never visit the configuration options of the software they use.

The defaults are what create the incentives for behaviour online. That’s where it is should be wish to affect them on a large scale. Only a small minority can be reached with calls to change their settings.
