Heavy thunderstorm day, so rewatching 'Bedazzled' for the first time since forever, probably decades. And a few dated early 2000's product-of-its-time elements aside, it's still a fun casual watch, with an actually solid message by the end.

Elizabeth Hurley as the Devil remains iconic in every scene, and Brendan Fraser's sensitive, awkward nerd vibe continues to occupy a soft spot in my heart.

@fringemagnet Fun movie. I prefer the original with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. Just my opinion though.
@catdad Not personally a fan of the casual sexism and objectification of women in the 1967 Bedazzled, I feel the way Elizabeth Hurley's sexuality is portrayed in the 2000 one works a million times better, but to each their own. Honestly apart from the Faustian theme, they are so vastly different in story and tone I can't even compare them.
@fringemagnet The bargain theme is central to both, and how they're played out is different in many ways, given the 33 year gap. The comedy in each is of it's time, and ignoring the flaws, very accessible. Both are fun! Others will have their own opinions, of course. As much as I like the original, Brendan Fraser is brilliant.
