In order to instil the fear of god in Americans again I think what US needs is to start honest to god war with any one of their neighbours that can actually fight back long enough and bring back forced conscription like it was during Vietnam years.

The threat of Trump forcibly plucking one out of their gamer basement to make them go and kill people they never knew in a country they don't care about is going to turn a lot of Capital-G-Gamer young men into very politically motivated individuals.

@Deiru A recently declassified US military report from near the end of the Vietnam War said that military discipline was at low levels not seen since "Russian in 1917".
By the end of the war a plurality of commanding officers died by fratricide (in fact, the term fragging comes from slang for a common way to kill your commanding officer). Given the left wing political radicalism at home, I think late 1960s US was a lot closer to Communism than many would like to think.
