I just realized that #GNOME removed #X11 support starting from version 49 when I try to upgrade to #NixOS 25.11. Because I still rely on X11, it is time for me to migrate to another #desktopenvironment.

@ulysseszhan Genuinely curious what keeps you needing X11?

For me 'quicktile' and 'xdotool' were hardest to replace, but I now use Plasma Wayland or Sway (Wayland, obviously) 100% of the time and almost never think about X11.

@shimeike Some of my #X11-only applications are xf86-input-wacom, x11vnc, AHK_X11, and xosd-xft.

@ulysseszhan Thanks - that's an interesting list! Alternatives may exist (often compositor specific), but if you've got complex personalised configurations built around the existing software it's understandable why you wouldn't want to change.
