Turns out you can just like, download the app used to make QLD road signs

I swear to god I need a web filter that protects me from finding interesting things after 10pm, let alone midnight
@xssfox seconded by every other ADHD person, ever.

If you've never tried making a crack, this is great "my first crack" program.

A non spoiler hint, I actually I had trouble figuring out what stops working when your licence expires - it's saving functionality.

can I FOI licence keys?
I just found a wizard mode
@xssfox I thought that was coming as soon as you found it needed a licence key
@xssfox WHAT
@mwichary @xssfox
30-day trial, then you need an $800 license.

@RealGene @mwichary @xssfox iirc TraSiCAD v2.8 can be used for more than 30 days for free, although im not sure

what i can confirm is you dont need a license to use the wizard & export image feature in v2.8

@xssfox @RealGene @mwichary
yea ik im just saying
also if you dont mind me asking how would you find the part that does the license check in the code? im pretty clueless cuz im not experienced with debuggers and that, i was trying for something like 30 minutes in x64dbg and still couldnt get it
anyways kthx bye :]

oh and another p.s TraSiCAD is also used by Transport for NSW, although the only rta specific ver. still publicly available is v2.8, which is ~17 or ~16 years old

@suazhh @RealGene @mwichary looking at strings that mention the license status is a good starter
@xssfox these two diodes pointed at each other seems like an issue
@ad_infinitum @xssfox I have been working with CAD and this kind of dimensions since I was a kid and I never noticed that!
@xssfox oh look, it's that one roundabout in florida (if you don't get what I'm talking about, which you probably don't, look up "confusion corner florida" on your favorite search engine)

@xssfox I note that the symbol library is available on that page. It's all Windows Metafile .wmf files, but it includes such symbols as Cassowary_black.wmf, Dugong_brown.wmf, and No banana plant.wmf
@xssfox this is amazing

@xssfox Seems weird that the AS1744 standard fonts are distributed by a random dude with a outlook address
@benschwarz @xssfox apparently since ~2017-2019 the as1744 font is identical to the fhwa font, hell even the trasicad installer has the fhwa fonts packaged in. before ~2017-2019 it was approx. 1.75% times bigger
@benschwarz @xssfox oh and p.s around 2020ish a demo of the as1744 series e (or e modified idk) was found
@xssfox I'm a little bit confused by the licensing model here, surely the companies most likely to need this software are themselves going to be working for the department of transport?
@xssfox In the middle of Woof Woof.
@xssfox in a place where Beerwa and Bli Bli are legit place names nobody is going to notice Woof Woof. Nobody.
@xssfox sadly no MacOS version.
@xssfox 800 bucks per year for a licence, they're laughing all the way to the bank
@xssfox “system requirements: up to windows 10” if I cannot install this software on my IBM mainframe I will be SORELY disappointed
