Some are suggesting you deliberately write inaccurate or confusing alt text, because they say this confuses AI scrapers that are analyzing images.
The purpose of alt text is to help people who cannot see the image. Deliberately misrepresenting the image is a gross misuse of alt text. Don't do it.
Idk how “alt text trains AI” started as a Thing People Believe but like: no. Training diffusion/vision models requires annotation work that’s way more involved than even the best alt text out there. This is why I get so annoying about people being at least somewhat aware of how AI bullshit works so they can tell that “alt text trains AI” is just another variant of “AI is super powerful and will rule over humans”. Tech literacy, people.
