Whats our opinion on startups using GPLv3 projects as part of security-critical defense technologies? Can the anti-tivoization clauses trump "national security"?

@kraln wow i had to read this a few times, think about it, think about it more, and I still don't have am answer. I know what I *want* to answer, but that doesn't answer your question.

I think the current answer is; they can't. This makes me very uncomfortable.

@obsidian the good-ish news is that the anti-tivoization clauses are written in a way which under most interpretations of the license only apply to consumer goods. However there are a number of interpretations which affect any dual-use goods, which could be argued (would have to be) to be enforcable regardless of attempts to segregate or isolate.
@obsidian the bad-ish news is that, like functional safety, ethical responsibility, supply-chain security, or license compliance, most startups just don't care and YOLO until the compliance discussion starts.
