I've been a fair weather biker most of my life but as I've become a fairly regular bike commuter I have been dreading the day when it is dark, drizzly, and dreary. My ride back from work today was that day; 45°F/7°C, a light drizzle, and a chilly wind, it was not nearly as awful as I would have imagined. I might have just extended my riding season #BikeTooter.

@shom a good light, good waterproof/windproof gloves go a long way with that sort of weather too.

Once it gets much below 40 and raining it gets pretty miserable though.

@elebertus I'm using my mittens (originally for skiing I think) for now and that's been a big help. Any recommendations on gloves? The mitts aren't the best for keeping a few fingers on the brake. But I don't think I'll ride in pouring rain but probably will take a chance of dreary drizzly days and try not to be an absolutist.

@shom it’s been a lot of years since I’ve needed them, but at the time it was a pair of trek branded gloves.

Personally for me a fairly thin glove worked well as it wasn’t too cold, but just something that was a barrier between the elements and my fingers.

If it’s an option I would go to any bike/outdoor shops in your area and test out some stuff and see what your options are first hand..

@elebertus yea thanks. I plan on swinging by the bike shop next week and see what they have.
