Okay. I made something. It took three years and I could keep going but need to call it finished at some point. Itโ€™s a block pushing puzzle game with few gameplay elements that still contains a bunch of big and small reveals, which to me is very satisfying.

It was mostly a joy to work on, exploring how this little universe works much like a player would. I made it in Puzzlescript, a tool I am very comfortable with but might need to โ€œmove onโ€ from for future projects.

Before I say anything else, here it is: https://cubestudio.itch.io/nuworm - you can play it for free in the browser :)

@noa Looks neat! Also wow, three years! Congrats on finally pushing it over the release line.
@rostiger thereโ€™s a LOT of scrapped levels and even entire game mechanics, and dozens of previous artstyles I went through! still - to be clear, thereโ€™s been lots of multi-month gaps where I did not work on it at all haha
@noa Oh yeah, sure, that's what I assumed when you wrote that this is mainly for your own enjoyment. Still, continuing to come back to a project over such a long timeframe is an accomplishment in itself. ๐Ÿ’ช
@noa I thoroughly enjoyed playing this!
@wolkenmachine thank you!!
btw, thinking about visual programming work: at some point along the process of making this game, I was fully intending to port it to my own engine based entirely on rules with 2D pictures. turns out making an editor application that goes beyond a prototype-y feel is really hard, but I should post about it some time! In the end, forks of puzzlescript provided enough for what I wanted to do this time around.
